Good Defense

Switch to a good defensive player when your opponents have the ball. Even if that player is not on the screen you can still easily switch to that player. Simply look at the name under the JAM BAR as it will state the name of the player you are controlling. Continue to switch players until you pick up the best defensive player on your team (Shaq, Ben Wallace, etc). When you have switched to that defensive player simply hang around the basket (no 3-second rule) and block shots. You won't block every shot but many of them. When a bad ball-handler in real life has possession of the ball, throw him down by pushing Square + Turbo. It will be much easier to knock down a Yao Ming or a Shawn Bradley rather than a Kobe Bryant or a Ray Allen. Also use a big player (Shaq, Ben Wallace, etc) to knock down these players as it will be more effective.
