Unlock Abbey
You must do this for each time you play the game on ISLA side.
To unlock Abbey, rescue the initial few villagers in the wilderness after visiting the Sanctuary for the first time. Use Rusty to inspect the back wall of the Sanctuary's main hall and you will find a new area to explore. Abbey is in one of the unlocked jail cells in the dungeon area. Since he (Abbey is a man) is bitten, take the little girl in the cell and Abbey back to the Sanctuary. From there on out, you may speak with Abbey and play as him until the end of the game.
